CLCV E-newsletter 2004
In the summer of 2004, the California League of Conservation Voters (CLCV) entered the realm of the e-newsletter. CLCV launched an e-newsletter in August in order to be more visible to existing members, increase online fundraising in the long term, and acquire and develop new members.
The e-newsletter goes out to all CLCV members, donors, prospects, non-profit partners, and other interested parties who have provided an e-mail address. It is sent as a multi-part MIME type message; recipients whose e-mail programs can't handle HTML format (or are deliberately set not to do so) receive the message in text format (see a sample).
I designed the e-newsletter to be closely visually related to the CLCV website but to have a unique identity as a separate publication (and to be relatively simple to plug in new content each month). I also write virtually all of the e-newsletter content, as well as content for other e-updates (when a full-fledged e-newsletter is not practical or necessary). See: August e-update, October e-update, November e-update (election results), November e-update (action alert).
